Marine Construction Worker Insurance Claims

There are many potential hazards in the day-to-day jobs of marine construction workers. They operate heavy machinery to restoring shorelines, dredging harbors, repairing bridges, and building docks. Frequently manning cranes, forklifts, and excavators day or night, it is not uncommon to work in the sweltering heat or freezing temperatures. 

With a higher than average chance of injury, it is important for the average marine construction workers to have a sense of how to navigate the claims process. 

So, here are some tips to help you find the right coverage to ensure you are in the best position if you need to file a claim. 

Leave the legal work for the experts 

Marine construction workers are experts at well, marine construction. So work with a claimant to bridge the gaps in your knowleadge. Just make sure your honest with the insurance company about what your business and employees do, so you can get the coverage you need. 

Get All Your Coverage With The Same Carrier

If you use more than one carrier for your coverage, that is too many. A good insurance company should be able to offer you all of the employee injury and marine lines of coverage you need. Getting all of your coverage with the same company also will help you be sure that there are no gaps in your coverage. 

Demand Maritime Expertise

Go with an insurance company that has first hand knowledge of how the marine construction industry works. An insurance company that employs maritime professionals and experienced marine insurance agents are going to be more capable of steering your claims in the right direction.
