Technology from Trimble that allows operators to virtually “see” underwater – using machine guidance for more precise positioning of heavy equipment – was showcased at the debut webinar of Marine Construction Magazine’s Strategy Sessions webinar series.
The presentation, led by Trimble’s Shea Griffin, regional sales manager for the Americas, provided a detailed look Trimble’s machine control systems, which integrate sensors and software that’s displayed in-cabin for operators. The sensor-based imaging allows a crane operator, for example, to see obstacles in zero-visibility water, or the surface contour of an underwater excavation area. That capability, in turn, enables more efficient workflow, which translates to lower costs, winning bids and profitable jobs.
The presentation included real-world applications through the participation of a client—Travis Iapicco, construction technology manager of Weeks Marine—and an integration partner—Lou Nash, president of Measutronics Corporation—who provided video and slides to illustrate how the technology was used on actual job sites.
