ShibataFenderTeam produces donut fenders for oil field development in the Middle East

ShibataFenderTeam (SFT) is currently producing more than 70 donut fenders for a large oil field development project in the Middle East.

Instead of using oil rigs made from steel and connected to the seabed, the customer is building several artificial islands on which the end-user will drill for oil. Each island will have its own supply harbor, and SFT fenders will be installed on each island’s main boat landing facility.

SFT’s German production facility started in March 2020 to manufacture the donut fenders. About half of the ordered fenders were scheduled to be shipped by June 2020, with the rest to follow before the end of the year.

According to SFT’s internal information and records, the order is one of the largest single orders for donut fenders.
